Thanksgiving Weekend

I hope everyone had a really good Thanksgiving.  We sure did.  It is nice to be around family and just relax and eat and talk about old times and new times to come.  We had dinner at my parents house as usual.  The only thing missing was a visit from my sister and her family from Houston.  It is kind of hard to travel alone with an active two year old and a 3 month old.  Her husband works for the airline industry and it is of course hard for him to take time off during the holidays.  He has to make sure the rest of you get to see your families.

I have been furiously working on my projects.  Of course I am no where near a 1/4 of the way finished.  I think I got a little overly ambitious.  I hardly got anything done over the past few days.  Bill was working and I was at home with the girlies.  We had a lot of fun playing games, reading and other things.  I kept telling myself how good it felt to play with the girlies, but at the same time, my projects were calling me.

Here are a few pictures from the past few days....

Well, if I could get my darn computer to just let me put the  photos in I would.  I DO NOT understand wht the problem is, but I have been working on this post since Monday and I am just going to post it!  I guess I will just have to have my neighbor check out my computer since every single time I try to add a photo it doesn't want to do anything.  Then I end up having to go over to my parents house to use the computer and add the photos.  VERY FRUSTRATING!  Especially since I have pictures I want to share with friends and family.  I am going to fill out a ticket and get some help from  Typepad.  Or if any of you know why I can't load my pictures, I would appreciate your input.  Okay, enough about the joys of technology.  LOL!  Sighhhhhhhh....

I have been making Christmas cards, scarves and dishtowels.  I didn't meet my goal of sending the cards out the day after Thanksgiving, but I do have 50 of the 75 made and the other 25 are WIPs.  I made one scarf and sent to Nicole who is in the Air Force in Afghanistan (just a little something red and Christmassy),  another red scarf and one striped scarf for me that is a WIP.  The dishtowels are now 5 in number and I am getting a little bored with them.  I think I might have to make some coasters instead.  I saw some really pretty patterns for some in a book I have.

I might as well move along and tell everyone that I have joined Weight Watchers.  It has worked for me in the past and I KNOW it will work again.  It is high time that I started taking better care of myself.  When I joined a couple of weeks ago, some people thought it was a bit crazy with the holidays coming up.  I just laughed and thanked them for their concern.  What they didn't realize is that this is the PERFECT time of year for me to start taking better care of myself.  I don't want to gain any more weight than I already have and if I am checking in each week and attending it will help keep me focused on what I need to do to get healthy.  I have 75 pounds to lose.  No, make that 69 pounds, I have already lose 4.2 pounds the first week and 2.0 pounds this past week.  I am so proud of myself.  I feel more ready to lose weight than I ever have.  I KNOW I can do it!  With a lot of prayer, watching what I eat and exercise, I will get the job done.

I hope everyone has a good night!

Belated Halloween Update

We had a really good time on Halloween.  We went to my parents house with all of the kids.  It was a bit windy, so my sisters and I stayed back at the house with the wee ones and handed out candy while the men took the older kids around the neighborhood.

My Mom was kind enough to make us chili, garlic bread, her special sugar cookies and chocolate cupcakes.  It is becoming a nice tradition for all of us.  Thanks Mom and Dad!!

Here are the girls all dressed up.  We had a bear, a queen and a Hello Kitty Fairy this year.  Sweet!

Comfort Food

I am FREEZING and it is only the 7th of November!  I don't know if I can take another cold Northern winter.  I guess I will just have to make myself feel better by staying indoors, hanging out with my handsome hubby and the girls and eating some yummy potatoes and sausage.  Oh, and let us not forget working on all the projects I listed!! LOL!!!!

What are you all going to do to occupy your winter this year?

I have them spread out on the floor in the living room and dining room and I have been walking around them trying to decide how I am going to quilt them.  Hmmm.... Nothing too complicated....  We shall see.
